BioChem: Final week

What is staying with me from class is the conversation towards the end around mutual aid. I think this is something that we give name for and advocate for while our relatives from other species do this automatically. The articles we discussed about nitrogen-fixing legumes and cover crops and Earthing and forest bathing reveal that symbiotic support is the oldest mutual aid group in the world! Now humans just have to get onboard. As my group read in the article about “smart” plants, nitrogen-fixing legumes are designed to adapt and plan ahead for disasters. What they can’t do, is adapt and plan as quickly as we are destroying things. Time to turn the education system over to the Department of Ecology ?
