energy, matter, force & vibrations

Are all vibrations “good”?

All vibrations are. How we feel about them is how we feel and any judgment placed upon vibrations or our feelings are conceptual. It’s interesting to think about destruction of bridges or buildings during an earthquake in terms of vibrational resonance because it makes these structures seem more alive to me.

Resonance in my life

I have a daily practice of finding my own frequency as a range and then noticing the places that I like to hang out. Then I try to take up the full scale and the more I practice, the more present I feel and the easier it becomes to find the resonance of others. In relationship, when I listen with attention on my frequency and theirs, the conversation goes smoother. I notice greater ease of understanding and increased flow in the conversation. Both parties feel seen and heard more completely than if I don’t attend in this way.

Connections between Energy and Qi

I was told by my qigong teacher, who is a native Chinese woman, acupuncturist and former instructor at ACTCM, that the reason we use the word “Qi” instead of trying to translate it into English is because the term “energy” does not encompass all of the meanings and functions of Qi. Considering this, it seems that the principles of energy - capacity to do work - is one facet of how we understand and use the term “qi” as practitioners. Another teacher used to say that Qi is the breath itself and the inhale. It is the substance and the animating force or inspiration. I think we try to use the word “energy” in place of “Qi” but maybe the word “energy” doesn’t have enough qi to fully measure up to the vast qi of Qi.
